In 2011, we got Snowtober; in 2012, we get Frankenstorm. We managed to eke (eek?) out a trick or treat last year but with schools closed today through Thursday, this year’s haunting looks a lot less happy. But first, let’s get through the hurricane.*
*Still had power this morning (and no rain yet) so what the duck, I thought I’d put out a post. I could do some laundry or clean up my office but what fun would that be???!

I am happy to see your post this morning.. are you far from where landfall will be? I hope so.
Weeeellll, hard to say. I think they’re calling landfall in New Jersey but the wide swath of this thing means impacts far away from storm center. I’m more concerned about the ducks than us (even if they are waterfowl!) because they’re outside and we’re snug as bugs in here with the cats and our emergency supplies. Just doesn’t seem fair! Thanks so much for your kind thoughts–we will keep posting while the power is still on but that could change tonight when the storm finally moves ashore. Saying a prayer for everyone in the path of this one!
Hunker down!
Hunkering away…even as I type this, a large branch drops off the ornamental pear tree in our front yard. Finally, about 15 minutes ago, we get the main event. It’s been pretty mild, albeit ominous, all day. Still not much rain but that’s a blessing under the coastal circumstances! Thx for checking in!
We West Coasters are keeping you on our minds and in our hearts.
Thank you so much! We just got back on-line today…a week without power or heat. But, mercifully, we all made it. Our thoughts & prayers are with folks in New Jersey, Staten Island and other hard-hit places. More updates when I finish cleaning up and getting ready for the next storm.
That’s good to read.
