Well, sorta. Let’s give thanks for plants that convert sunshine to food so that we can eat. Or as Wendell Berry puts it, “the harvest of sunlight”. Magic + delicious!

Sunflowers were my grandmother’s favorite flower. She used to say that they reminded her of sunny days.
True, true!
I agree. The sun is the source of all (or most) life on our planet. I like your interesting shots of the sunflowers.
Thanks! I love taking pix of them after a while ya gotta get creative if you want to keep posting ’em! 🙂
love the study on sunflowers, mine don’t look too hot this summer:-(
U have my sympathy–we had *one* sunflower last year and then the squirrel ate it. *sigh*
Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers!
I know, right? Can’t get enough of them & neither can the bees!!!
They’re gorgeous! Not only that, but the birds and small mammals love them too.
OK, if by “birds” you mean “goldfinches”, I’m good. If by “small mammals” you mean “squirrels”–all I have to say is aieeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! But maybe you meant chipmunks? 😉 (But thanks for the compliment either way!)
I love that plants can make use of sunlight +CO2 for food and give us the most important byproduct of all….oxygen!
Oh, right, *that* little ol’ element! 😉
I love sunflowers almost as much as I love Dr. Berry! Beautiful pictures and beautiful sentiment 😉
OK, I give up. What’s Dr. Berry?!
Wendell Berry 🙂
Duh! This is what I get for trying to respond to comments without reading “In Response To” column more carefully. 😉
🙂
I agree, we need sunshine so much, and to see sunlight transformed into a flower, or a plant is so uplifting. Lovely photos!
Thanks so much! Glad u like! 🙂
I’m with you, sister! I give thanks.
