I am right there with you Lori. Feel guilty if I pull up flowering brassicas as know the bees love them!!
😀 ! I threw a few on the “compost” pile and they reseed every year. Will write a longer piece about this concept as soon as I can scrape together some time. Not everyone has the space but a little corner where you can let things run amok is so good for nature… Thanks for stopping by today!
A good tip. I grow dill for caterpillars.
And parsley! The question is–did you deliberately plan to grow it for them or did they beat you to it?! 🙂
Deliberately. The majority of what I grow attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators. On the downside, I also attract squirrels, rabbits and deer.
I love self seeders..they populate the garden while you plant other seeds and seedlings.
Didn’t mention this but borage also amazing! I tossed a package of wildflower seeds on one of the raised beds I was letting go fallow and the borage went gangbusters this spring all on its own. Boy, will the bees be happy!
Young borage leaves make a nice tea 🙂
How true
I love a good self seeder! But I am loathe to pull up volunteers, so we have wayward orpans popping up in the strangest places…
Hear ya!!!
